Google Doesn't Have Time to Call You

by DE Web Works | Jul 07, 2017

Google My Business FraudHave you been receiving calls from companies telling you that you haven't claimed your Google Business Listing? I have. At least 2-3 per day (on my cell phone which I don't give out).

Here's what you need to know:

It's not Google. They might say something like "I'm calling on behalf of Google" or "I'm calling to set up your Google My Business listing". The truth is, Google has neither the time nor the resources to call you to help you set up a service that is already free.

According to this article, Google does NOT:

  • Charge for inclusion in Google My Business or in Google Search. This does not apply to the Google AdWords platform.
  • Offer to improve your search ranking or manage your business's online profile.
  • Ask for your password or verification code. Never provide sensitive account information to a caller. Ever.
The only time Google MIGHT call you (if you don't already have an AdWords account) is to invite you to setup Google AdWords. Still, in more cases than not, this is NOT Google calling you.
If you receive a call that you believe to be fraud, or are unsure of suspicious activity regarding Google, please go to this page and report it immediately:

If you truly want to set up your Google My Business page (which you can do for free by yourself), just go here and get started:
